On the battlefield near Albert a British battery has been captured; the gun crews have pulled the guns out of the gun pits in order to engage targets over open sights. With the ground churned up into a crater field, the German gunners struggled to get their guns forward. A British supply column caught on an open road by the German artillery; dead horses and material are scattered all about. Somewhere on the Somme front near Albert, the dead horses and limbers of a British artillery unit lie on the battlefield.
